About the Department

The Department of Community Medicine was established with the inception of US-Bangla Medical College . The Department is running by professor who is the head of the department, associate professor, assistant professors and lecturers with other supporting staffs.
The department has its own Museum for the students which are enriched by various models and specimens of academic interest, like arthropods, communicable diseases, deficiency disorders, vaccines charts and diagrams. The department always maintains the profile for the student’s performance.

The course of community Medicine is running as per curriculum of Dhaka University. The classes of Community Medicine start from 1st year MBBS and run up to 4th year .The teachers are to take lectures, tutorial and practical classes as well as field visits in different institutions and plants of public Health interest in and around the Dhaka city and also to the upazila health complex. We also send the students with guidance of the teachers to grass root level in the rural area for RFST (Residential Field site Survey Training) program.

The teachers of the department regularly take item, card and assessment examination for the students. Senior teachers of the department are also the examiner of Dhaka University and participate as examiner in different public and private medical colleges under Dhaka University. The department arranges weekly academic discussion with the teachers for welfare and further improvement of the Department.

The curriculum of Community Medicine includes preventive medicine as well as primitive and curative health care studies with rehabilitation service in the community.
The teacher of this department has close relationship with other departments and with different institutions. We participate in different training program, symposium, seminar and workshop of NIPSOM, DGHS, MOH and WHO and other organizations. We also participate in various national issues like arsenic mitigation program, prevention of IDD, Vit A supplement and other health education program.
